 Summer Pottery Sessions for 2021! 

 

Our Summer Pottery Sessions consist of 4 classes per week (Monday - Thursday). These session are developed for children with some clay experience or none. The projects are designed to cover the foundation techniques of hand-building, giving them the skills to express their creativity in 3D. Each week we will work on three projects using the 4th day to concentrate on painting our creations. 

Summer hand-building session includes instruction (90 min. class) , clay, glazes, and firing. Summer painting sessions includes  (90 min. class) , glazes, and firing.

Note: Registration is required, limited to 8 children per session. Ages 7+ 

July 6 - 9

TUESDAY

July 6, 10 - 11:30 am

Planter: Using the foundational pinch pot technique we will create the planter and turn them into cute little characters by adding feet, arms and little faces!

WEDNESDAY

July 7, 10  - 11:30 am

Pancake Pile: Using the foundation  technique of coils, we will create a fun pancake pot and introduce slab making to create a cover for a final pancake box.

THURSDAY

July 8, 10  - 11:30 am

Wall Pocket: Children will learn how to make and follow a pattern, cut a slab and turn it into a 3D pocket. In addition we will stamp and press a design into the clay.

Painting: Introduction to glaze and underglaze, as well as painting techniques.

July 12 - 16

MONDAY

July 12, 10 - 11:30 am

Mugs with Character: We'll be making a mug using the slab technique and teaching how to attach a handle as well as give it some character. After glaze it is food safe and dishwashable

July 13, 10  - 11:30 am

Connect the Pots: Using pinch pots we will attach them together with slip, students will be able to be creative and choose how to decorate their piece by engraving each in a different pattern or colors

WEDNESDAY

July 14, 10  - 11:30 am

Cake anyone? Using the previous techniques covered, we will be following a pattern and building a pie slice. Chocolate, cherry, apple, create your favorite piece and explore clay sculpting!

Owl Pencil Holder: The slab technique is one of the most important pottery skills to learn. Here we will create slabs and cut out a template to put together this cute little owl.

Luminary: Using the slab technique and carving, we will create a cylinder that will be transformed into a beautiful night light.

Cupcake Box: Using a mold for the bottom of the box and coils for the top, we will be creating this fun and colorful box cupcakes

August 23 - 27 
Inspiration by the Masters
Ceramic Painting | Weekly fee: $100

 

During this 4 day summer session, we’ll explore 4 of our favorite Painting Masters. After learning more about their history, experience and technique we will sketch out a design channeling their tactics and transfer the sketch into a ceramic plate to create our own masterpieces. What an amazing set of dishes to keep inspired all year around! 

 

This four session includes: Fun art history facts, instruction, 8” coupe plate, glazes, firing.
